A$AP Nast - Trillmatic (ft. Method Man)
In addition to A$AP Rocky and A$AP Ferg, I’ve been keeping up to date with the rest of the A$AP Mob off and on, which consists of 13 members total, but keep in mind not all of them are hip-hop artists/producers. I wasn’t all that impressed with their lackluster 2012 collaboration mixtape Lord$ Never Worry, so I didn’t feel overly obligated to follow their progression too closely, or at least until they got their shit together. Fortunately, that day seems to have definitively come, at least for A$AP Nast. He previewed about a minute of Trillmatic back in July of this year, but I had no idea the final product would turn out this perfect. Not only is Trillmatic better than anything anyone from A$AP Mob has ever released, including A$AP Rocky, but it’s hands down one of the best hip-hop songs of 2013. Method Man makes a lasting statement with his top notch verse, and adds some solid variation to this vintage New York styled song. You’ll find this on A$AP Mob’s debut album Lords, which drops March 4, 2014.
"This ain’t just me rapping, it’s real and something you gots to know. Catch a mark nigga hating, get him a casket, that bastard’s ‘bout to go. Whoa, Nasty baby I’m crazy, the 90’s raised me. I’m just as smart, probably smarter than half the cats who play me.”
